    With over 17 years experience in garment making and alterations Claire has key knowledge in the field.  Gradutating in 2007 from a menswear BA at Brighton University, clothing and textiles have been a big part of Claire's life.  Sustainable practices have always been a part of Claire's business values which sent her down a path of servicing and educating starting with garment alterations.  Since 2019 teaching others how to alter garments was the launching point of the repertoire of classes you can attend today.  Every session brings learning of how to best adapt to meet the needs of anyone from beginners to those coming back into sewing.  Each class if very adaptive for different learning styles and is intended to inspire people to continue on their creative path.  As someone who likes human interaction Claire treats every interaction with warmth and curiosity.  Sewing brings such happiness and a sense of joy to all who try it.  To pass on skills that people can use for life is the best feeling, with a continued afford to adapt classes to meet the needs of anyone who wishes to learn.

    What will we do?
    🌿 Bring a garment to repair or come without: we will teach you repair techniques to extend the life of your clothes and reduce waste.
    🧵 We will share knowledge, stories and concrete actions to make fashion more ethical and sustainable.

    You don't have to be a sewing expert: all skill levels are welcome! Come with us to give new life to your clothes and build a more responsible future for fashion.

    Do you have a phrase you would like to embroider on a tee-shirt or sweater?

    Join Eimear Greaney (UpSew) for a hands-on embroidery session, where you’ll learn the basics of chain stitch on a tee-shirt or sweater—perfect for easy removal if needed. It’s a fun and creative way to personalise or add flair to your clothes.

    All materials will be provided, including felt test pieces for those who prefer not to stitch directly onto their own clothing right away.

    This event is free of charge; however, advance booking is essential due to limited availability.

    Saturday 26 April 12:00-17:00, alongside 'Mend in Public Day', it is also 'Kings Day' in the Netherlands. Our national colour is orange, so we will put orange thread on our sewing machines and provide orange darning and embroidery thread. So the visible mending on your clothes or accessoires will be in orange.

    Because of Fashion Revolution Week, we have four days of Slow Fashion activities from 23 -26 April. At the same time, it's a great start to our community at our new location in Enschede!

    SWAP & SHARE:
    Thursday 24 April, Friday 25 April and Saturday 26 April, swap and share your clothes between 12:00-17:00.

    CRAFT & CREATE:
    Crafting, making and mending together in company (DIY). Workshop Special: Sashiko. Wednesday evening 23 April Workshop 20:00-22:00 (walk-in 19:30).

    PAINT & PATCHES:
    Workshops on Thursday 24 April 14:30-16:30 (walk-in 14:00). And another one in the evening 20:00-22:00 (walk-in 19:30). Workshops 700 Bodywarmers & Enschede, transforming body warmers using paint, patches and padding.

    Especially for FRW we have the 'Stitching to Resist' community banner hanging with us. 'Stitching to Resist' is a space to explore, repair & resist with textiles in all its possibilities. ‘Overlap' and 'Stitching to Resist' work and have worked together before.

    Entrance is free, we only ask a small contribution for workshop-materials & drinks and service fee when taking out clothes at the clothes-swap.

Building on the spirit of our social crafting workshops, we're bringing you a space to mend, learn new repairs, and connect with fellow fashion enthusiasts to experience sustainable fashion and learn more about mindful consumption.

    What to Expect:

    • DIY Repair: Bring your beloved clothing and textiles, and mend them with mates
    • Expert Guidance: Learn valuable repair skills from experienced sewists and repair enthusiasts or learn to crochet.
    • Community Connection: Connect with like-minded individuals, share tips, resources, and browse our open library for the session.
    • Free and Easy: Drop in and stay as long as you like during the event.
    • Browse and enjoy our open library with informative content and resources from Fashion Revolution volunteers.
    • Tools will be provided, but feel free to bring your own.
