On the fourth anniversary of the Rana Plaza garment factory collapse, join us for an evening of photos and film to commemorate the women who survived and the movement of women’s resistance that takes place every day in Dhaka.
We’re screening the new film, Awaaz: Worker Voices that chronicles the barriers faced by the mostly female garment workers at home, at work, and in life.
We will also be showcasing stunning images from our photo series, Women are the Resistance that profiles just a handful of Bangladeshi women who we don’t often hear about, yet are the backbone of the fight for justice inside and outside of factories in Bangladesh.
As an extra special treat, our dear friends at Rainbow Collective will be showcasing some of their newest short films made by children of Bangladeshi garment workers.
Come along and hear from War on Want’s Thulsi Narayanasamy about her recent visit to Dhaka and where the struggle for garment workers rights are today.
The evening is hosted by War on Want, TRAID, Brick Lane Circle and Rainbow Collective.
