The CONNECT Project aims to educate fashion students on the importance of sustainable innovation in the fashion industry. Students are encouraged to base decisions on the underlying premise of social responsibility and benefitting the global community. We encourage students to develop their own definition of sustainability in fashion based on their perspective, research, and creativity.
The CONNECT Project – Sustainable Innovation in Fashion is a global, collaborative effort to bring awareness to students of fashion about sustainability and innovation in our professional field. Faculty/student teams from each institution (Buffalo State, MMU, BIFT and RMIT) will travel to each university to hold open discussions on the issues of consumption, the environmental impact of textile waste and creative solutions in the fashion industry. We hope our students will become active in the effort to reduce the impact on the environment through sustainable practices while maintaining their creativity and commit to sustainability efforts through all phases of the fashion cycle from sourcing, manufacturing and design through to end of life.
